On March 14th, Maryland Congressman Roscoe Bartlett put a legislative stake in the ground. In a special session, he gave a one hour speech on peak oil. It is rare that a representative is granted an entire hour on the floor even during special sessions which happen at night and not generally attended.

This legislative stake in the ground now gives Americans the ammunition to ask their congressperson what they plan to do about peak oil. Ask them about Congressional Record March 14th, 2004, Items 54 and 55. To what extent have they studied how this will affect their district and what contingency plans are in place?
